DecalGirl PSP Skin Kit (Slim & Lite)
Manufacturer: DecalGirl
Site: Buy from DecalGirl
Price: $9.99
Overview : DecalGirl PSP Slim skin kits covers the front and back of the new PSP Slim, completely wrapping the area around the directional control as well as exposing the openings for the speakers and LED lights. Printed at art-quality resolutions on premium grade cast vinyl then covered with a clear protective coating, our full-color PSP Slim skins use an innovative, patented repositionable and removable adhesive backing for fast, easy and accurate installation and goo-free removal! Includes a download code to get a free matching wallpaper for a seamless look!
Quality/Usability : One of the biggest faults of the PlayStation Portable (PSP), is that it attracts and shows finger prints easily due to its shiny gloss. DecalGirl not only attempts to prevent fingerprints but also prevent scratches and add a new refreshing look to your PSP. Hey, who likes to be generic? Why not stick it from the rest of the PSP crowd with a new look without modifying your PSP?
The PSP Slim & Lite skin kit comes on one sheet. The skin contains both the front and back skin for the PSP Slim. The front contains one big vinyl skin. There are also skins for the buttons if you decide to use them. The back contains three skins (battery door cover, UMD door, right).
To apply the console skin, I simply started with the front face skin. Since the skin has holes cut out for the LEDs and speakers on the PSP, it would be easier to measure and apply the skin. You'll need a sharp object or pen to punch out the small vinyl cut outs that are not needed. I worked my way from the WLAN/Memory Stick LED lights to the middle to make sure the skin went around the bottom buttons and Power LED/Hold. Once the bottom half has been applied, I worked my way up by smoothing it out. Like with all my portable devices whether it be the PSP, Nintendo DS, MP3 players or cellphones, I have a screen protector. Since I have a HORI screen protector on my PSP, the skin kind of overlaps the screen protector. This is a good thing and bad thing because it prevents tiny particles of going under the screen protector but if I need to remove it for whatever reason, I would have to remove skin as well. If I placed the screen protector on top of the skin, the corners of the screen protector would stick up and attract dirt.
The back is very very easy as there is nothing in the way. Just line up the corners and simply smooth it out. There are a couple of ways to smooth out the skin. You can use a credit card or something similar, your fingers or a rag. I personally use my fingers first to set the skin in place and use a rag to flatten and smooth the skin out. I dont use a card because it has sharp edges/corners and if there is a small hard particle that got trapped underneath the skin, it can ruin the skin.
Whats great about the DecalGirl PSP Skin Kit (Slim & Lite) is that it comes with matching background wallpaper to match your vinyl skin. The code is on the skin itself. To get your wallpaper (you'll need access code), simply go to GetMyWallpaper. Get your wallpaper and load it onto your PSP just like transferring any file.
Conclusion : Overall, the DecalGirl PSP Skin (Slim & Lite) fits perfectly with the PSP Slim & Lite. Like all DecalGirl skins, its easy to clean, easy to remove and it wont leave any sticky residue. If you mess up a section, you can simply lift it up and reapply it. Some other skins on the market, either leave residue on your device once removed or if you mess up, it wont look good when reapplied. Its great that DecalGirl included a matching background wallpaper.
DecalGirl also makes skins for the original PSP, so people who still have the phat, you're not left out.

DecalGirl PlayStation 3 System Skin Kit
Manufacturer: DecalGirl
Site: Buy from DecalGirl
Price: $14.99 (system skin only); $4.00 each (controller skin purchased w/system skin); $4.99 each (controller skin only)
Overview : Say what you will about the new Playstation 3 - it sure is glossy black. Like it's little brother the PSP, the PS3 collects dust and fingerprints with a vengeance. Plus, your mega-purchase looks like every other console out there...
Enter the new line of full-color PS3 skins from DecalGirl, with all the features you've come to expect - no fading, no goo or residue, and a washable surface. They're thin enough to conform easily to the curves, yet thick enough to prevent scratching the OEM finish. And, they're right here at our facility in the USA.
Quality/Usability : What does the PlayStation Portable and the Sony PlayStation 3 have in common? No. Not because their made by Sony, have PlayStation in the name or both being black. They're both magnets for fingerprints. We all hate the finger marks that the Sony systems attracts as it looks nasty and horrible.
With the DecalGirl PlayStation 3 Skin Kit, not only will it prevent fingerprints, it will protect your expensive investment from scratches and spice up the looks of your console. DecalGirl is well-known for their high quality vinyl skins. Skins produced by DecalGirl are vibrant in color and durable. There are a lot of skins to choose from and there will be some that will catch your eyes. You can even match all your consoles such as DS, Wii, Xbox 360, etc. to have the same skin.
The PlayStation 3 kit includes a skin for you PlayStation 3 ($14.99) and a skin for your SIXAXIS/Dual Shock 3 controller ($4.00 each). You dont have to get the kit. If you just need controller skins, you can purchase them for $4.99 each (savings of $0.99 each when purchased with system skin).
The system skin comes on one sheet. On this sheet are 3 vinyl skins (top, memory card door, front panel). The controller skin comes also on one sheet. There are multiple pieces for top front of the controller. You can even use the smaller pieces to to cover the buttons if you choose to but its your decision.
To apply the console skin, I simply started by matching the corners of the skin to the corner of the PlayStation 3 for all three sections. Once matched, I did it to the other 2 corners and left the fourth corner alone. Considering the skins are fairly big, it should not be a problem applying the skin.
The controller skin, can be a little tricky especially when it comes left (d-pad/joystick) and right (buttons/joystick) side of the controller. Since the left and right side are circular, I started off the biggest circle (d-pad and buttons). Once I aligned majority of the section around the d-pad and buttons, I started from the other end (joysticks). From here, I can place the skin around the joystick. This will also allow me to adjust the skin if needed. Once applied successfully on both sides, I applied the middle. The middle is fairly easy and I only had to worry about the skin going around the PlayStation Home, SELECT and START buttons. Last but not least was right about the L1 and R1 trigger buttons.
The controller skin also includes d-pad and buttons. Its up to you whether or not you want to apply these or just leave the controller alone.
Although everything fit perfectly, there was a problem. Since the PlayStation 3 has a sensor on the power and eject buttons and the skin covering the sensor, this prevents the buttons from functioning. This may be a major drawback for some. Yes, you can use the controller to turn on and off your system and eject your Blu-Ray disc but you still have to get up to remove the disc from the slot. So while you're up, why not power on/off and eject your system? You're up already. To solve this problem, you can either not apply the skin which wouldnt look right or cut out that section only, leaving a empty hole. Although this works, this may make the skin look ugly.
Conclusion : Overall, the DecalGirl PlayStation 3 Skin Kit looks great just like all other DecalGirl skins. Everything fit perfectly on both the controller and system. But the only drawback was the ability to use the power on/off and eject button. To some it wouldnt matter but to others, it would. DecalGirl would probably be able to fix this by adding a metallic piece under the vinyl or have a cutout of the buttons? This may require additional work and a change in their printing process or template. Then again, with DecalGirl's creativity, they might be able to think of a way.

I know its part of the orange box, but I'm just gonna review TF2, mmmkay?
All online, all shooting and all cartoonish, Valve has a good sequel to the questionably "good" Team Fortress. Because there is no storyline, i guess thats all for that part.
TF2 is an all multiplayer class based shooter, much like its predecessor. There are nine classes which include Scouts, Pyros, Soldiers, Demoman, Heavies, engineers, medics, snipers, and spies. The presentation when it comes to connection is usually terrible. Joining games take unneccesarily long times and half the time the game displays rooms with open spaces but in turn states that its full or "no longer accepting players" (whatever the hell valve meant by that) when you try and join them. The classes are fairly well-balanced, but when it comes to the grind, the game can be terribly unfair, far worse then Halo or Gears., However, the game is terribly addicting, like Halo or Gears.
Easily one of the best parts of the game is the character development, despite never having a story mode. You just kinda figure out their individual personalities and traits just by using them. Unfortunately, it doesn't go much further then that. The class based multiplayer sure is a blast, at least, when its fair. When you've got 3 enemy sentries, 2 soldiers, a medic, and 2 demomen placing bombs right outside your spawnpoint, its easy to tell Valve really didn't give a crap about the cheapness factor in the game so much as throwing it on the market.
In other words, it can be a good game. But to games like R6V, Resistance, and Halo which ARE good games instead of CAN be good games, it falls pretty short.
The graphics are another great thing about this game. Its endearing cartoon-style graphics perfectly compliment its blow-you-limbs-off with a rocket style of gameplay. All the characters are hilarious at times, the things they say. And the CG makes all of it possible.
Sooooooo.....
Presentation: 2/5
Horrible connection issues, boring interfece and lack of gameplay modes kills it. Bad. Glitching is absolutely terrible and causes many games to where the opposite team has a terribly unfair advantage.
Gameplay: 3.5/5
While its a blast while the class-based multiplayer is WORKING, many a time the game will make absolutely no sense as to why some things happen.
Graphics: 4/5
Best part of the game. The cartoonish CG is perfect and original.
Sound: 3/5
While the gunshots and beats of a wrench work, there are no amazing things about the effects. Music is non-existent.
Replay value: 4/5
With nine classes, 6 maps and 3 gameplay modes it makes for a decent time. With more maps, weapons, and classes on they're way, it makes for a fun time. Granting you can bear the issues.
OVERALL:
I'm sure this will be argued. Alot. but the fact is, while I'm hopelessly addicted to it, I've easily seen all the crap this game has to offer. Still, its a solid experiance. At least, most of the time.

Talismoon Retractable Sensor Wiire
Manufacturer: Talismoon
Site: Buy from TotalConsole
Price: $19.99
Overview : For those who take their Wii on the road, the retractable wii sensor bar reduces the bulk and weight that you need to carry with you. Convenient with many TV systems as it requires less space than a full length sensor bar and can fit in many places! The sensor Wiire consists of two sensor blocks on a retractable spool. Approximately two feel (2') in length, when fully extended.
Features :- Fits anywhere!
- Fully adjustable - for use close up or far away
- Clever "Pack and Go" design
- Suitable for use away from home, including at hotels, show cars, and in recreational vehicles
- Ultra compact, completely compatible with Wii.
Quality/Usability : The size of the Nintendo Wii is fairly small compared to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Its also the most carried around system from house to house in my family since everyone in the family can play with the Nintendo Wii. Transferring the Nintendo Wii in a case isnt the problem, its the sensor bar. Its probably the longest and probably most fragile accessory due to its size. Not to mention, the sensor bar is usually attached to the display and the double-sided tape will eventually wear off and having to deal with the long wire. Even using a third party sensor bar such as the Nyko Wireless Sensor Bar. It can be too big, too wide and/or uses too many batteries.
With the Retractable Sensor Wiire by Talismoon, they're reducing the size, batteries and wire. The size is really small. It measures approximately 2" long, 1/4" thick (3/4" when snapped together) and can fit in a pouch or small pocket. Talismoon reduced the size simply by removing the middle section of a sensor bar. Honestly, all it is is an empty space. Its the right and left side that is important since that is where the LED is located.
The sensor itself works great. Then again, using candles or Christmas lights will also work. Simply detach Sensor Wiire and put one sensor on each side of your TV. There was no delays or any problems with the Wiimote recognizing or moving with the Sensor Wiire. The only thing that may be a problem is the wire. Although it is fairly long measuring approximately 2 feet long, the retractable wire is iffy. Majority of the time, the wire will retract but if retracting is not aligned, the wires will not retract and you're left with dangling wires. When the wires do tangle, I am able to pull on the wires and try to retract it again. But how long will I have to do this before the wires no longer retract? I've experienced retractable ID badges and once they're jammed up, its not longer usable.
Conclusion : Overall, the Talismoon Retractable Sensor Wiire is highly recommended for those who bring their Nintendo Wii around, just to have a spare or is looking for a replacement.

An anonymous Best Buy employee has sent us a scan of an internal letter, which notifies employees that the 80GB system is being discontinued. "The 80GB version of the PS3 is going closeout and won't be replaced at this time," it reads. "It will come off the planogram on Jan. 28. The 60GB version should already be gone from stores. Only the 40GB version of PS3 will be sold in Best Buy stores at this time."
The 40GB model currently costs $399, and is the cheapest PS3 available. However, it does have a few limitations: it lacks memory card readers, features only two USB ports, and most importantly, loses backwards compatability, as noted in the memo. "This means that there currently isn't a version that is PS2 compatible," it notes.
There have been very shady rumors suggesting Sony is planning on introducing a cheaper $299 version of its console (although that has been repeatedly denied by Sony). Earlier in the week, we also discovered an FCC filing for a white model PS3. Whatever's going on, it appears that Sony's making moves for a big change. Stay tuned.

Filings at the Federal Communications Commission reveal that Sony will be releasing the Ceramic White PlayStation 3 in North America.
Originally released in Japan in November, the 40 GB units comes with a white DualShock 3 controller and retails for JPY 39,980 in the region.
A covering letter from Sony Japan shows that the unit was submitted to the FCC and the American Telecommunications Certification Body in October of last year, requesting short-term confidentiality "to avoid premature release of sensitive information prior to marketing or release of the product to the public."
The US Ceramic White PS3 is Model: CECHH01. No release date or pricing but it shows that the US will be getting. Its just a matter of time.

DecalGirl Xbox 360 HD DVD Skin
Manufacturer: DecalGirl
Site: Buy from DecalGirl
Price: $14.99
Overview : Make your Xbox 360 HD-DVD player look as good as the movies it plays with a new full-color skin kit from DecalGirl. This three-piece kit covers the bland ivory panels with a vibrant DecalGirl skin design, digitally printed at art-quality resolution on the best materials money can buy. As with all of our full-color skins, the glossy finish won't fade, smudge or smear, and there's no residue left behind when you decide to change the skin.
Quality/Usability : With the HD DVD player add-on, there are no replacement cases for it for those looking to change the look or style. There have been people who have dyed the egg-white color casing of the HD DVD player to match their Xbox 360 Elite. Unfortunately, some people dont know how or are too afraid to mess it up. What is the next option? Skins. The DecalGirl Xbox 360 HD DVD Skin is made from vinyl. There are some out there on the market that gives you different designs but the quality are either limited to a certain amount, horrible or the quality is poorly made. Price is cheap but what you pay, is what you get.
With DecalGirl skins, you get the best of all worlds. Not only do you have a lot of selections to choose from but the quality is the best on the market and the price is very reasonable.
The Xbox 360 HD DVD Skin has three skins; top, bottom and side. All skins that you order from DecalGirl are all pre-cut to fit your desired device. Unlike the DecalGirl Nintendo DS Skin, you wont need a pen or sharp object to detach the skins from little pieces. Since the pieces are all huge skins, handling and applying the skins are very very easy.
To apply, I simply started by matching the corners of the skin to the corner of the HD DVD player for both the top and bottom. Once matched, I did it to the other 2 corners and left the fourth corner alone.
The side skin was a little different. It was cut and shaped differently since it curves. I had to line one side before before smoothing out the rest. If not lined up first, the skin would not fit perfectly on the player.
The only problem I had was the side skin (the smallest piece). The reason why was because it was actually bigger than the HD DVD itself. I had to take an x-acto knife to mark off where the excess skin is. Once marked off or kind of stenciled, I took a scissor and cut it off. Once cut off, the skin fit perfectly. DecalGirl might need to check their template. But its nothing major.
Conclusion : Overall, the DecalGirl Xbox 360 HD DVD Skin fits perfectly and looks great. Applying the skin was very easy and quick. As mentioned, the only minor problem was the slightly bigger side skin which was taken care of by simply cutting the excess skin off. Removing of the skin will not leave any sticky residue which is a big factor when applying anything to your devices. So if you dont like it or messed up, you can reapply it.
