Ok after a long wait I have finally found the drive to write up this review. I certainly hope you people like it :P So lets jump right in here. Endless Ocean. This "non-game", while not for everyone, is indeed for me. From day one I found myself interested in this unique scuba diving game. It attempts to give you an open world take on the ocean and does it very well. Heres the thing though. If you dont like exploration dont buy this game. If you do buy 3 or 4 copies so the makers think its a huge hit..
Graphically this game is nearly on par with the greats of the console like Mario Galaxy or MP3. Notice I said nearly.. Not quite but its good. The graphics do their job of being immersion and thats all you/I want anyways right? Oh and did I mention the graphics are great only when you're in the water? On the boat they arent so hot..
As far as the controls go you'll soon forget their are any. Its that natural. Simply point at the screen and hold the B trigger or hit - to toggle auto swim. Thats it. Just point and go. Immersive? yes. Simple? yes. Does it work? Again yes.
The sound work is great. Plenty of breathing noises and all those underwater sounds you'd expect. Granted its nothing breathtaking but it serves to make you feel like you're drowning. One big issue is the absence of literally any voice over work. Often times you speak to other people and its completely silent minus the birds and water splashing. Very underwhelming.
All in all its a good not great game. It does exactly what you want and little else. It does, however, have online but again NO VOICE CHAT means why bother to me.
Replay Value 4/5 If you like the game you'll keep coming back for a very long time. The ocean is huge and theres plenty to explore.
Sound 4/5 Dolphin noises like you've never heard them before. Also breathing and water moving noises. Whoopie.
Graphics 4/5 Just a notch or so below Mario Galaxy and Metroid. Probably 2 notches though.

Quality/Usability : When the PlayStation 3 launched, one vital feature was missing from it. The Xbox 360 has it, the Nintendo Wii has it but the PS3 didnt. Even the PlayStation 2 had it. Know what it is yet? (I think the title gave it away)...RUMBLE! Why was it left out? Well, I wont go into detail (Google) but Sony was being sued for infringing on patents that Immerson had rights to in regards to rumble. So to prevent the PlayStation 3 from being delayed, Sony released the PlayStation 3 with no rumble built into its SIXAXIS controller. It was a huge setback to Sony and a huge disappointment to gamers but a little more than a year after launch, Sony is able to release a Dual Shock version of the SIXAXIS.
We all know that rumble wont change how a game plays but it has become an essential part of the gaming experience. A lot of the PlayStation 3 games have great visual and gameplay but lacked that extra feature to give that full enjoyment. Its like eating a burger but all you're eating is the bun, lettuce, ketchup and no meat.
Although the review is based on the Japanese version (Europe and North America not released at time of review), it will still work on any PlayStation 3 as there is no territorial lockout on accessories. With the announcement and release of the Dual Shock 3 controller, newer PS3 titles are starting to support new controller. Some games even have patches to support the rumble.
Upon removing the controller from its plastic, you'll notice the added weight from the controller immediately. Its not really heavy but you'll notice a difference between the Dual Shock 3 and the SIXAXIS. You'll also notice that the DS3 does not sport the semi-transparent casing that the SIXAXIS does and it is now opaque black. Other than that, layout of buttons and controls are the same and you still have the motion sensor.
Setting up the controller is like setting up the SIXAXIS when you first set up the PlayStation 3. Simply connect one end of the USB cable (not included) to the DS3 and the other end to the PS3. Sync the controller and you're set.
We put the Dual Shock 3 to work with Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Burnout Paradise and Unreal Tournament 3. I must say, everything that you would expect from a Dual Shock. The rumble that we have come to know and love is all here! Not only does it work with PlayStation 3 games, but it worked with PlayStation 2 games as well without a problem.
At the time of this review and infancy of the Dual Shock 3, the following titles support rumble. As newer games come out, more and more games will support the DS3: (as of 9/20/07 - list from SCEE)

Conclusion : Overall, the PS3 DualShock 3 Controller is a must own for the complete gaming experience. Gaming is not the same anymore without rumble. Rumble is pretty much a standard in gaming these days. Unfortunately, Europe and North America has seen release and wont see it until Spring 2008. The standalone SIXAXIS retails for $50USD but the DualShock 3 should retail for about the same when released. So importing right now, you're paying an extra $10USD and its well worth it. DS3 only comes in two colors; white and black. Remember that it does not come with USB cable so you'll have to use the cable that came with the PlayStation 3.

Quality/Usability : When the PlayStation 3 launched, it had backwards compatibility thanks to the 20GB and 60GB. Of course, everyone wanted to try out the backwards compatibility whether it be PS1 or PS2 games. But how can we continue from where we left off without having to start all over? Sony has released an adapter that lets you insert your original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 memory cards into the PlayStation 3 using a little USB Memory Card Adapter.
With this adapter, you no longer have to start from scratch. The adapter consists of a small black box that measures approximately 2.25" x 2" x 0.75". On one end, is one slot where the memory card goes into and on the other end is where you connect the USB cord. Unfortunately, no USB cord is included so you'll have to use the USB cord that came with your PlayStation 3.
Once the adapter and memory card is connected to the PlayStation 3, the memory card shows up under Game section of the XMB and you'll find a Memory Card Utility. When you press "X", a message will pop up telling you that the selected memory card will copy to the hard drive and do you want to continue?. Choosing "YES" will prompt you to give the internal memory card a name. It will then copy over your game saves. Copying of game saves takes a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes depending how many saves you have on your PS1 and PS2 memory card.
As of version 1.80 firmware, you can copy saved data from PlayStation or PlayStation 2 format software stored on their PS3 system to a Memory Card (15 blocks) or Memory Card (8MB) (for PlayStation 2), using your PS3 system and a Memory Card Adapter.
The adapter will not work with cards that have more than 8MB (PS2) or 15 blocks (PS1) of storage space. So if you have a 3rd party manufacturer memory card such as HORI or MadCatz, that has more storage space than Sony's, you wont be able to copy them over.
Conclusion : Overall, the PS3 Memory Card Adapter is great for those who own a backwards compatible PlayStation 3 such as the 20GB, 60GB and 80GB and want to transfer their game saves from the PS1 or PS2 memory card to the PS3. No USB cable is included, so you'll have to use the USB cable that came with the PlayStation 3. You're unable to use any memory cards that are bigger than 8MB or 15 blocks. So you'll have to go and purchase a PS2 memory card or borrow someones card in order for you to transfer from your 3rd party card to the Official Sony card to the PS3 via the adapter. As of version 1.80 firmware on the PS3, you're able to copy saves from PS3 to memory card. But I see this adapter not being used often.

As we previously reported about KontrolFreek's FPS Freek, which adds better control to FPS games, IGN has posted impressions on the prototype.
Dubbed the FPS Freek, the new add-ons apply a similar concept of extending a standard control pad's analog sticks, though unlike the driving oriented speedfreek's "U" shaped sides, the FPS Freek goes vertical rather than horizontal. The concept immediately reminded us of one of the very first third-party controllers for the Xbox 360, the MadCatz GamePad Pro we reviewed in late 2005. The initial run of the controllers were equipped with analog sticks on extremely long and narrow stalks, a manufacturing error that was later corrected. In reviewing the initial run, however, we noticed that the long analog sticks had a pretty unique feel, in some ways more precise than standard stubby analog sticks. Depressing the MadCatz GamePad Pro's sticks for the R3 and L3 buttons was extremely difficult due to their narrow stalks however, so in the end we didn't keep them around very long.
kontrolfreek's FPS Freek, however, seems to succeed where the MadCatz controller failed. The prototype add-ons snap onto the standard 360 controller analog sticks, making them roughly half an inch taller. Because they still ride on the 360 controller's wide analog stalks however, depressing the sticks for R3 and L3 is easy and accurate. Immediately glad that the FPS Freeks didn't suffer the same big drawbacks as the GamePad Pro, we went to work to see if the longer analog sticks really did offer an advantage in FPS titles.
PC gamers have long maintained the superiority of the keyboard and mouse control scheme for FPS titles, citing the inaccuracy of analog sticks for precision aiming. Such inaccuracy, we believe, is in large part a consequence of analog sticks' variable resistance. The majority of the effort involved in moving an analog stick though it's range of motion (from neutral to 100% input in a certain direction) is primarily invested in shifting the stick though the first 20% or so of its range. The springs that keep a stick standing straight and neutral also make moving the stick in small, precise motions difficult, as after applying the strength to overcome the initial resistance it's hard to not push the stick all the way though 60% or more of its throw. As such, tiny aiming adjustments are tricky, and constantly counterbalancing over-inputs degrades accuracy, especially compared to a mouse with uniform resistance to movement.
The FPS Freeks do a lot to resolve this issue, essentially lengthening the analog sticks to provide a longer lever-arm so as to make overcoming the resistance of the springs in the analog stick easier. With more leverage under one's thumb, the initial resistance in the first 20% of the analog stick's throw is greatly reduced, making the motion of the analog stick much more uniform.
After a few rounds in CoD4 adapting to this new feel, we realized we rather enjoyed it. The biggest benefit, in our hands, was the ability to make very small aiming adjustments without overshooting the motion. Instead of spraying bullets at people back and forth, the precision of the longer analog sticks made it much easier to draw a bead on running players and input just enough on the analog sticks to keep it on them without leading increasingly too far ahead. Fighting barrel-rise in light machine guns was also easier, as we could maintain a constant down force on the stick at roughly 40% of its throw, just enough to stay on target without overshooting and aiming at the ground.
A few things did take some getting used to, particularly the greater distance between the right thumb and the X, Y, B, A buttons. Transitioning from stick to button took longer than we were used to, but with a bit of practice we became accustomed to compensating for the change. We also realized that the FPS Freeks probably provide the greatest advantage in FPS games that move decently slowly and encourage careful aiming, like CoD4 and RS:Vegas. Frenetic shooters tend to be more tuned for bullet-spraying and rapid strafing, which the FPS Freek's won't necessarily aid in a major way.
There exists a long-standing intolerance for controller add-ons in the gaming community, thanks primarily to decades of decidedly lame peripherals back in the '80s and '90s. These days however, the design and effort invested in such concepts are greatly increased, and some legitimately good ideas are rolling out. kontrolfreek's FPS Freek would indeed seem to be one such concept, and while there are no doubt players who've reached a metaphysic bond with analog sticks in FPS titles, there are others (particularly PC gamers) who've long struggled with the control scheme, and they'd be wrong to not consider what advantage they might gain from analog sticks with more uniform resistance.
As we've discussed, the FPS freeks we received were prototypes. The planned final product will feature integrated rubbery caps on the add-ons; we've attached GelTabz to our prototypes to roughly replicate the result. kontrolfreek is hoping to begin tooling soon, and is offering a pre-order option for those eager to try the FPS Freeks out. Pricing is currently set at $9.99 for a pair, and $17.50 for 4 FPS Freeks. Stay tuned for more news on their progression to commercialization as it develops.

Quality/Usability : With every gamer anticipating the release of 1st party gun, Wii Zapper, everyone was disappointed. The feel and comfortability was not to their liking and gamers around the world are looking for an alternative.
PEGA has released another light gun attachment for the Nintendo Wii which looks similar to the Wii 5-in-1 Laser Pointer Gun minus the laser pointed, detachable Nunchuk and white casing.
The top of the main gun has a cover that keeps the Wiimote in place and allows the Nunchuk cable to come out from the side. Pulling the trigger has a spring action which requires you to pull back a bit in order for the "B" to register. The Nunchuk itself fits snug in the attachment. The attachment itself slides into the gun but can easily slip off during an intense gun battle.
Conclusion : Overall, the PEGA Wii 2-in-1 Combined Gun is just another light gun on the market. Nothing special. Personally, anything light gun attachment that requires you to hold hand over hand (i.e. Wii Zapper), I would stay away from. Its uncomfortable to play with. Even with the attachments taken apart, its not the same because the gun has this big piece sticking out in the back.

Quality/Usability : With Guitar Hero 1 and Guitar Hero 2, you were unable to change the faceplate of the guitar. Only way to customize it was by doing it yourself with paint or other means. When Guitar Hero 3 came out, RedOctane allowed gamers to customize their guitar by being able to change the faceplates. Unfortunately, some faceplates were just hideous looking.
DecalGirl jumped on the Guitar Hero train and produced skins for the Wii and PS3/Xbox 360 guitars. DecalGirl is well-known for their high quality vinyl skins. Skins produced by DecalGirl are vibrant in color and durable. There are a lot of skins to choose from and there will be some that will catch your eyes. You can even match all your consoles such as DS, Wii, Xbox 360, etc. to have the same skin.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 guitars are similar in size and style. However, since the Wii guitar requires the Wiimote to be placed into the guitar and there is an opening in the faceplate, the Wii gets a skin for the controller as well to match. The vinyl skin comes all on one sheet. The sheet also includes the fret and fret dots.
To apply the console skin, I started with the biggest piece which was the faceplate. Considering its rounded all around, I didnt have a specific spot to start from. However, I did make sure that one side was aligned before smoothing out the remaining area. Considering the skins are fairly big, it should not be a problem applying the skin. There are a couple of ways to smooth out the skin. You can use a credit card or something similar, your fingers or a rag. I personally use my fingers first to set the skin in place and use a rag to flatten and smooth the skin out. I dont use a card because it has sharp edges/corners and if there is a small hard particle that got trapped underneath the skin, it can ruin the skin.
Applying the fret vinyl skin was also fairly easy. There are six small circles that you'll need to poke out. I started with the bottom of the fret and worked my way up (end). Once all the main pieces have been applied, you have the option of going all out and adding colored fret dot vinyl skins. There are nine colors to choose from and each has 6 dots.
Those who have the Wii version, installing the controller skin is very easy as well. Just start anywhere by matching up the corners and work your way around the controller and you should be set.
Conclusion : Overall, the DecalGirl Guitar Hero 3 Controller Skin gives the guitar a sweet look to it. Installation is very simple and clean. I love the fact that DecalGirl also includes vinyl skin for the fret and fret dots. It would of been nice if DecalGirl included maybe vinyl skins for the fret buttons as well.

Overview : The faceplate concept is cool, but it leaves the rest of the console sitting there like a chunk of forgotten ivory plastic. The Xbox 360 is an impressive piece of equipment, and now you can take it to the next level with a DecalGirl skin kit. Quality/Usability : The Xbox 360 doesnt have that glossy look like the PlayStation3, PSP or the Nintendo Wii. It has a matte look to it. The 360 comes in a Ivory white color unless you get the Elite which comes in black or the Halo 3 Edition that comes in seaweed green. But 360 owners are able to customize their Xbox 360 by changing the faceplate. Its cool and all but if your faceplate is colorful and your system is white, it would look awkward.
