I was lucky enough to be one of the first 100 people who got the chance to receive a free P3Hub . I decided to write up a simple review as I promised to do it when I asked P3Hub team (PS3Break team) to send me a free sample .
Introduction
The P3Hub is a new product which supports self-programmable feature through USB announced by the PS3Break team , whose PS3Break is the first affordable alternative to the ‘official’ PSJailbreak , that can be found for less than $35 on most shops . It makes PS3Break very famous and popular among PS3 users . However , the PS3Break team change the ATMEL chip over PCI chip which can’t (or complicated to) be upgraded . That maybe the reason why they release the PSHub .
Build quality
The build quality of the P3Hub is adequate , I like the design because it has two USB ports itself , it’s is very convenient for me to connect USB devices to PS3 console (I have some 3rd party device) .
Using the P3Hub
The dongle doesn’t come pre-flashed so I need to flash it with PSGroov first . I read the P3HUB2 SETUP Burner Guide from the official site , but found that they don’t have Microchip.BootLoader.USB.HID.v2.6 for users to download , WTF ? It took me 1 hour to find where download this tool : http://www.box.net/shared/c5q6nutoyj...69/507869025/1
Well , it actually worked as it promised , it is successfully flashed with the latest PSGroov .
Things Ive tried
Pulling the P3Free out after booting works fine.
Jailbreaking with USB Fan running works.
Jailbreaking with Disk in works
Pros and Cons
Pros:
Build quality
USB upgradable
Extra USB ports
Cons:
A bit expensive than other dongle
Conclusion
Overall, the P3Hub USB Jailbreak PIC Programmer worked like it should by taking advantage of the PS3 USB exploit that allows you to install homebrew applications. It is the best dongle in the market as most of others are not upgradable as you known .
$41.99 @ Lightake.com if anyone want to buy it .

PS3Key USB PSGroove Jailbreak ATMEL
Manufacturer: PS3Key (by WiiKey)
Site: Buy from Acekard.ca / Buy from LighTake / Buy from Divineo Spain / Buy from PS3Key Distributors
Validate your PS3Key: Validate Here (Enter Serial Number and Verification String on yellow sticker)
Price: $49.99
Overview : The PS3Key is Team WiiKey's first product in the PS3 market. They decided to release a clone of the PS Jailbreak, a USB Plug and Play solution that installs in seconds without any need to open up the PS3. It will not break your warranty seal and is compatible with all PS3 models, both Fat and Slim. Easy-to-use software for backing up, managing, and playing games from external USB Hard Drive. The PS3Key will supports installing homebrew application on PS3 and external USB media. THIS DOES NOT WORK ON FIRMWARE 3.42 OR ABOVE UNTIL A NEW EXPLOIT/METHOD IS FOUND!
Requirements :- PS3 Console (fat or slim)
- Console (firmware) version 3.41 only
- Remove all discs from the drive
- Do not connect any devices to the console via USB
- IMPORTANT: The console must be completely switched off before using PS3Key. For fat versions, use the switch at the rear. For slim versions, simply remove the power cable. This is extremely important for the process to work correctly when you start the console.
Features :- USB Plug and Play solution that installs in seconds without any need to open up the PS3.
- Does not break your warranty seal.
- Compatible with all PS3 models*, both Fat and Slim.
- Supports all regions: USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA.
- Fully updatable via USB on your PC using an encrypted bootloader
- 32KB onboard flash (most competing products only have 16KB flash)
- Disables forced software updates and will never brick your console.
- Supports most games and homebrew applications.
- Easy-to-use software for backing up, managing, and playing games from external USB Hard Drive.
- Playing games from HDD is much more enjoyable, benefiting from greatly enhanced seek and loading times.
- Supports installing homebrew application on PS3 and external USB media.
- Optionally PS3Key can be supplied with an "open" firmware which does not support backup loading. Users would then have to download a firmware update for PS3Key to get full functionality.
* Currently not compatible with 3.42 firmware and up
Quality/Usability : Also read our AVRKey review.
There has been a lot of confusion between consumers and retailers since retailers are naming it AVR PS3Key or something along those lines. So lets start off by clearing the confusion. AVRKey and PS3Key are made by the same people, both look identical and both use the same hardware but are BOTH different products. The BIG difference between the two is that PS3Key comes shipped with their own proprietary firmware (.upd) file, own software that reads/loads .upd files. AVRKey are shipped blank...as in nothing. With AVRKey, you install your own HEX files (.hex)..the same files as PSGroove.
IMPORTANT : PS3Key comes with YELLOW sticker. AVRKey comes with GREEN sticker. This is how you will know what you received.
Some are probably saying to themselves "Oh great..another clone to hit the PS3 scene". Yes, that is true but this from a team that has a great track record and been in the video game scene. The name PS3Key kind of gives it away. Want to take a guess? Still cant figure it out? The team behind PS3Key is none other than WiiKey...the same people behind the WiiKey modchip and WiiKey Fusion for the Wii. So you know they won't be leaving us gamers high and dry.
The PS3Key comes in an anti-static bag and on this bag is also a yellow sticker. This sticker is your serial number and verification string. This allows you to verify and validate if the PS3Key that you purchased is authentic. For the verification string, it must be typed as shown. Capital letters must be typed with CAPS and lowercase letters must be lowercase. Failure to do so will give an error message. The team is serious about combating PS3Key clones.
The PS3Key is housed in a metal casing that looks exactly like PS Jailbreaks. There is also no writing or logo on the housing to prevent any problems with distribution and measures approximately 1.25" (length) x 0.50" (wide). On the end of the PS3Key is a blue rubber cap. This protects the board from being exposed and prevent dust and other particles from entering as well as softens the brightness of the LED lights. The PS3Key dongle is running on ATMEL MEGA32U2 (ATMEGA32U2) and is upgradeable via USB port. Installation is simple. Since the encrypted bootloader and files are preinstalled, just insert the PS3Key into the USB port of your PS3. The files installed the PS3Key are proprietary. Getting it to run the exploit is the same as all other Jailbreaks and you can remove it after its been loaded successfully.
Operation :
Once the power to your console is completely disconnected:- Turn on the console (PS3 Fat with the switch, PS3 Slim connecting the power cable)
- Insert PS3Key into a USB port on the PS3.
- Start up the PS3 and press the EJECT button.
- The LED (which should have been red initially) will change to blue.
- If the above process worked, there will be a link to “Install Package File” in the game menu.
In order to make sure the PS3Key dongle worked flawlessly, I had to uninstall all my homebrew applications that I had originally installed. To install applications or any homebrew applications, you will need to download and save the .pkg files to a USB drive such as thumbdrive or harddrive. To install, simply insert USB drive to the PS3 and navigate to "INSTALL PACKAGE FILES" on the XMB under GAME. Select the file you want to install by pressing X and it will automatically install the file. All applications installed and loaded without any problems.
There are no other files or programs available to download from www.ps3key.com. But it seems PS3Key is in the process of making their own backup manager known as PS3Key Loader. However, upon loading this, there is nothing except for a message saying "The key has been turned..". Inserting a different Jailbreak device and running this file resulted in a failure. So it seems that PS3Key Loader checks to see if the PS3Key is inserted.
When a new update or application is released for the PS3Key, you can download the latest files at http://www.ps3key.com/en/members/downloads/. Here, you will need to log in (if you aren't logged in or registered already). In order to download files, you will need to enter the serial number and verification string to authenticate your PS3Key. Once logged in and the file you want to download is selected, your serial number is displayed. Before the "DOWNLOAD" button turns from un-clickable gray button to a clickable blue button, you will have to ACCEPT their Terms and Conditions...
Terms & Conditions
By using this PS3Key update you agree to the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree with such terms and conditions; do not use or apply the update.
The PS3Key Team grants you a non-exclusive license to use such software with the PS3Key hardware product only; provided your PS3Key hardware product is a genuine product of the PS3Key Team. The update may not work with, or may cause damage to, any non-genuine PS3Key product.
The export and re-export of PS3Key updates are not controlled by the United States Export Administration Regulations. As such, software may be exported or re-exported to Cuba; Iran; Iraq; Libya; North Korea; Sudan; or Syria or any country to which the United States embargoes goods.
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES: YOU AGREE THAT THE PS3KEY TEAM HAS MADE NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES TO YOU REGARDING THE SOFTWARE AND THAT THE SOFTWARE IS BEING PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE PS3KEY TEAM DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES WITH REGARD TO THE SOFTWARE.
LIMIT OF LIABILITY: IN NO EVENT WILL THE PS3KEY TEAM BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY LOSS OF USE; INTERRUPTION OF BUSINESS; OR ANY DIRECT; INDIRECT; SPECIAL; INCIDENTAL; OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING LOST PROFITS; SLEEP; SANITY) REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION WHETHER IN CONTRACT; TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE); STRICT PRODUCT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE; EVEN IF THE PS3KEY TEAM HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Just inserting the PS3Key into a USB port of the computer causes it to be recognized but nothing really happens nor does it show up as a removable drive. All you hear are dings. But I inserted and removed it 4 times in a row within 10 seconds and a pop up did show up on my Windows Vista saying that the Generic USB Device has been installed successfully and can be used (wont show up all the time..only when first initiated). Performing this method will put the PS3Key into Update Mode and the both blue and red LED will be lit (purplish look with cap on). This will now allow you to update the PS3Key with any new files the team has released. I know some gamers are wondering if you can flash PSGroove hex files onto the PS3Key. I haven't tried it myself but Team PS3Key has informed me that you can erase the files on the PS3Key and install something else (such as PSGroove), but then you would not be able to put PS3Key code back onto it again. So if you're looking to buy a PS3Key to load your own files, I suggest not doing so. If you don't care about future PS3Key updates and want to install HEX files, you can install HEX files onto PS3Key by erasing the PS3Key bootloader using the ATMEL programming software. Just remember that it's a one-way process and you won't be able to make it into a PS3Key again afterwards! Overwriting PS3Key's proprietary file would be pointless since you lose all future features and updates that PS3Key would release in the future. There are plenty of other USB development boards at a cheaper price if you wanted to load PSGroove files such as AVRKey. AVRKey is also developed by Team PS3Key but the difference between the two is that AVRKey gives you the ability to load your own files where as PS3Key has it preinstalled and both have the same hardware. PS3Key updates are protected with TEA Encryption and not serial number specific. However, its best to download directly from PS3Key's website so you know that the files are not tampered with and you have full support from the PS3Key team, if needed.
Instructions on How to Install Update :- Run the PS3KeyUpdater.exe application in Windows*. (REQUIRED for ATMEL based PS3Key)
- Connect PS3Key to your PC in update mode. To do this, simply insert it and remove it a few (3-4) times in until both of the LEDs (both red and blue...looks purplish) light up at the same time.
- Choose "File" and "Open" and then select the update file (i.e. ps3key_v2.upd).
- Click "Update Now" at the top of the screen. This will only be active when the PS3Key is connected to your PC and both the red and blue LEDs are lit.
- That's it! The progress bar will indicate when the update has been applied.
- It is now safe to remove PS3Key from your PC and continue to enjoy using it with the new features!
* Since my computer is running Windows Vista, for some reason, it didnt want to install the updated file. The progress bar didnt do anything (like the image above). But I decided to right click and choose "Properties" on the application itself (.exe) and clicked on the "Compatibility" tab and enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for: "with Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". You may also need to go under "Privilege Level" select "Run this program as an administrator". This is when the program would actually load the file. It may not be required but if you can't get it to load the new file, this is an option.
*UPDATE* 10/18/10
There are two versions of PS3Key. There is a ATMEL version and SiliconLabs version. ATMEL-based PS3Key require the use of PS3Key Updater to update the PS3Key. If you have a SiliconLabs-based PS3Key (4th digit of the serial number is a 4 or 5) then you do not need this application as it is possible to drag-and-drop the update directly onto the dongle in Windows. If you have already entered your serial number, you can check YOUR PS3KEYS and it will tell you which version you have. If you have not entered your serial or never got one (you should contact the site you purchased from and get one), the only way to find out is if you remove the board. Unfortunately, I do not know how the SiliconLabs (Silabs) version looks like.
I insert my PS3Key and nothing happens. No lights, nothing! What's wrong?
Unfortunately, a small number of PS3Keys (estimated at less than 1% of the total produced so far) were shipped with a little less insulating tape than they should have been. This is causing the metal contacts on the bottom of the circuit board to short circuit on the metal case. This isn't a fatal short circuit, your PS3Key has not been damaged.
If you're part of the 1%, to remedy this problem, simply remove the PCB and affix extra tape, as shown below: (this has been corrected at manufacturing plant)
1) Remove the blue plastic cap and bend the small metal clamps open:
2) Slide the circuit board out of the metal case:
3) Flip the circuit board over and affix a nice big piece of insulating tape. If your tape is quite thin, use 2 layers just to be sure:
Conclusion : Overall, the PS3Key USB PSGroove Jailbreak ATMEL looks very sleek. With Team WiiKey showing their continued support and products on the Nintendo Wii, we will see the same commitment on the PS3. They have demonstrated the capability to create and compile their own codes and are most than likely able to create a new their own version of the backup manager. Those looking to install their own files, I suggest not purchasing the PS3Key as you lose all features and future updates that PS3Key has to offer. Instead, look into purchasing the AVRKey which is also from the PS3Key team but AVRKey lets you install your own files. If you purchased a PS3Key and it did not have a yellow sticker on the anti-static bag, contact the seller you purchased it from and ask for it. If they can not supply it, you more than likely received a clone/fake (PS3Key do not have logo printed on them and caps are thick blue..not thin teal caps). Also, the image below shows two versions of fakes. These were NOT made by PS3Key nor ever was.
Please note that none of the "upgrade" products listed in this site are endorsed by Nintendo, Sony and/or Microsoft. DCEmu Reviews and DCEmu Network does not condone piracy. The primary functions of a "modchip" and/or "flashcart" are to allow you to play imported games and homebrew software that you legally own or simply just for experimenting with hardware. We in no way endorse piracy, and encourage all users to do the right thing and support the developers/manufacturers that support them. We do not take any responsibilities for any use outside of these parameters or where the use of such a device is illegal.

Warning: Counterfeit and Unlicensed PlayStation®3 Wireless Controller (Recommendation: use only genuine PlayStation®3 Wireless Controller)
Counterfeit PlayStation®3 Wireless Controllers, which are practically identical in appearance to genuine PlayStation®3 Wireless Controllers, have been discovered in the market. SCEA advises consumers to be cautious when buying PlayStation®3 Wireless Controllers from uncertain sources as the quality, reliability and safety of counterfeit products is uncertain, and in some cases, may be dangerous. It is possible that some counterfeit product may ignite or explode, resulting in injury or damage to the user, your PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, or other property. Moreover, SCEA does not support continued functionality of counterfeit or unlicensed controllers in system software updates and these devices may cease to function in the future because of system software updates.
SCE and its affiliated companies disclaim all liability for any loss or damage suffered by you or any third party through the use of counterfeit or unlicensed products.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
In addition to counterfeit controllers, if you have upgraded to the new 3.50 firmware to get the 3D Blu-Ray playback, don't be surprised if your unofficial USB devices no longer work. Sony failed to mention that they also prevented majority of 3rd party peripherals to not work unless its licensed Sony products.
Members from the Official PlayStation forum have started a list of what USB devices do not work. I've heard Bannco's FRAGnStein was also one of them that did not work but Bannco released a new firmware update for the controller to make it work again. But not all 3rd party devices are upgradeable with a simple flash of a firmware.
What's next Sony? You're going to remove online play so people can't cheat or trash talk? I hope this wasnt intentional as 3rd party manufacturers will be very upset about this.
*UPDATE*
We've been informed by XCM that their PS3 products such as their XCM XFPS Fire Light Gun, Cross Battle Adapter 2.0, RateUp Adapter and XFPS Force 4.0, all work on 3.50 firmware.

P3Free Pic-Fun Serial Programmer USB
Manufacturer: P3Free (by Wii-Clip)
Site*: Buy from DealExtreme / Buy from VolumeRates / Buy from LighTake / Buy from Price Angels / Buy from IC2005 / Buy Serial Programmer from IC2005 / Buy Pic-Fun + Serial Programmer from IC2005
*ALL P3Free's are now known as Pic-Fun and are USB updatable. Online retailers may still call it P3Free.
Price: $16.50-$29.90 / $29.00 (Serial Programmer) / $39.90 (Pic-Fun + Serial Programmer)
Overview : PS Jailbreak/PSGroove clone that takes advantage of PS3 firmware 3.41 exploit and allows you to install homebrew applications. THIS DOES NOT WORK ON FIRMWARE 3.42 OR ABOVE UNTIL A NEW EXPLOIT/METHOD IS FOUND!
Features :- Supports all PS3 models, Fat and Slim all regions
- After booting the P3Free you can remove the device from the PS3 and continue your homebrew
- Support all homebrew
- Supports network transfers, FTP transfer your data between PC and PS3
- Fully upgradeable, supports FPC ICPS port upgrade
- Contains a build-in bootloader
- Has a hardware RESET button to reset the device when needed
Quality/Usability : The first batch of P3Free's when it was released were only updatable with serial programmer as the USB bootloader was not loaded. All new and current P3Free's that are USB updatable are now known as Pic-Fun. Pic-Fun's do not require serial programmer for updating. It is ONLY needed if you bricked/need to hardflash bootloader on to Pic-Fun.
With Sony going after PS Jailbreak, backordered Teensy's and ATMEL chips all thanks to PSGroove (open source) and clones flooding the scene. P3Free is one of those open source clones that is made by the team behind the solderless Wii-Clip for the Nintendo Wii. Upon receiving the package, the P3Free comes in a anti-static bag and 8-pin FPC cable. Unfortunately, P3Free Team rushed the P3Free just to make it for shipping and did not have a PIC Programmer completed. So those who received the first batch of P3Free (marked with [F]) can not upgrade until the PIC Programmer is completed (more info about situation and solution below). Luckily, the files are preinstalled with "PSGrooPIC1.4_wUSBHIDC18-BTL_LEDG-B4_MCLR_12MHz.hex" so no need to load them yourselves. When the PIC Programmer is finally available, you can update the P3Free with similar file. Simply plug-and-play and is compatible with Original PS3 and PS3 Slim.
Unlike some clones, P3Free logo is not printed on the casing but instead labeled with a sticker. Printed on one end of the casing is "FONT SIDE". When I first saw this, I thought typical Chinese misspelling when it was suppose to be spelled "FRONT SIDE". Eventually I found out that its to let you know how to insert the FPC cable. The FPC cable has writing on one side while the other side does not. So the side with writing will be facing up. On the end of the P3Free is a RED LED, GREEN LED, RESET button and slot to insert FPC cable. The case itself feels sturdy and looks well built. Since the files are already loaded, lets get to knowing how to use it. The process is the same as the PSGroove and requires 3.41 firmware. Anything above this will NOT work as Sony has blocked off this method. Anything under 3.41 will cause some problems.
The P3Free boot step :- Remove the AC power cable from your SLIM PS3, or turn off the AC switch with your FAT PS3;
- Insert the P3Free, and remove other USB device if you inset it before, and eject the disk from BD drive if exist;
- Insert the AC power cable to your SLIM PS3, or turn on the AC switch with your FAT PS3;
- Touch the PS3 power button to active PS3, then touch the EJECT button quickly;
- You will hear some "beep beep" sound from PS3, then the P3Free's RED LED will start to blink, after a while, the RED LED will turn off and the GREEN LED will turn on. When you see the GREEN LED turn on, it means the P3Free is successfully active, now you can take out the P3Free if you want.
Video of how to boot P3Free :
Having successfully getting the P3Free to load on the first try, I thought I would try it out by installing some homebrew files such as FTP Server, Snes9x and Backup Manager. To install these applications or any homebrew applications, you will need to download and save the .pkg files to a USB drive such as thumbdrive or harddrive. To install, simply insert USB drive to the PS3 and navigate to "INSTALL PACKAGE FILES" on the XMB under GAME. Select the file you want to install by pressing X and it will automatically install the file. All applications installed and loaded without any problems.
As we mentioned above that P3Free Team rushed P3Free just to make shipping so here is what they have to say about the situation...NOTE FROM P3FREE
when the first batch goods ship out, the bootloader code is not ready yet, so we burn the stable v1.4 code in it, to make it can shipping at first time.
now we work with one new code that come with bootloader, and will teach user how to DIY the p3free to come with USB upgrade function.
in fact it's very simple, just SOLDER ONE SWITCH to p3free, and use any PIC programmer that come with ICSP port to burn the new code to p3free.
maybe is not easy for some new user, but anyway it's one solution still for who want to upgrade their p3free.
P3Free Team are giving those from the first batch an option for those not comfortable with soldering a switch. They can ship a new P3Free kit that will be USB upgradeable or get one printer port PIC programmer. So don't worry, you're not stuck with an un-updatable device.
*UPDATED* 10/22/10
We finally received our Serial PIC programmer.
If you have the 'F' version or messed up your bootloader then you need to install the USBHID bootloader on your device. I have attached the P3Free bootloader hex file (Bootloader_USBHIDC18_P3Free_V1.0_12MHz_BTL-pin1_MCLRon_LVPoff_F0_Version.rar) which reflects the 'F0' firmware. You need to hardflash this hex file by using a PIC programmer in order to make the P3Free USB updatable.
Click here to download the PICPgm v1420 PC program
How to burn the firmware to the PIC chip :
[1] Insert the Serial programmer to Serial Port of your PC and click the "Search" button, to see if it can find programmer or not.
If can't auto detect, then means your serial port has a problem. Please check it or change to another PC and try again, until to it can auto detect JDM hardware.
[2] Now link to your P3Free kit and click the "Search" button again, it should can auto detect the PIC chip.
If not, maybe you insert the FPC cable in a wrong side.
[3] When everything is ready, click the "Browse" button to select Bootloader_USBHIDC18_P3Free_V1.0_12MHz_BTL-pin1_MCLRon_LVPoff_F0_Version.hex.
[4] Then click the "Program" button
[5] It will start to burn and the progress bar will stop to respond, it may seem like it froze but its still programming.
[6] After program complete, this green window will show 3 seconds and auto close, now the new firmware is ready for test, all done!
Now your PIC programmable P3Free is now officially USB upgradeable. No more need for the Serial PIC programmer. Now you'll need to download P3FREE_Updater_V1.0.rar and the latest iLLNESS P3Free HEX file. Insert the P3Free into the USB port of your PC and press the RESET button. The app will now detect the P3Free. Click the "Open Hex File", select the right firmware and open it. Now click the "Program/Verify" button and when you see "Verify Started" that means the upgrade complete. Now the P3Free should auto reset and you will see one "Generic USB Hub" device appear in the hardware manager.
Conclusion : Overall, the P3Free Pic-Fun Serial Programmer USB worked like it should by taking advantage of the PS3 USB exploit that allows you to install homebrew applications. Unfortunately, those who purchased and received the first batch is left with a non-USB updatable P3Free. The only way to update is by using a PIC Programmer but even this is not available at time of this review. But the USB updatable version is available and will be shipping instead (label will be marked in blue color "F" and red color "1"). If you received the first batch, you can contact P3Free and they'll send you the new USB version as well as the PIC Programmer when its finally available.
*UPDATED* 10/22/10
After being able to finally update to make the P3Free to be USB updatable, the P3Free is now more convenient to use and to update. My Dell PC did not have a serial port, none of my laptops had a serial port either. Luckily, I had an old PC that I still use and that had a serial port and was able to use this to update the P3Free. If you can't find a serial port, you may need to purchase a serial port adapter. Unfortunately, a USB-to-Serial adapter will not work. All new P3Free's are now known as Pic-Fun and are USB upgradeable. You have an option of purchasing the Serial PIC programmer for an additional cost. This would come in handy if you brick your dongle and need to reload the bootloader. Majority if not all other jailbreak dongles dont allow you to.
The Serial Programmer is no longer required as all P3Free is now known as Pic-Fun and is USB updatable. Click HERE for a full review on the Pic-Fun.

For the last few weeks we’ve been helping drk||Raziel test and debug his nulldc emulator. We’re now pleased to exclusively bring you a video of it in action! Progress has been steady since his last update, showcasing the BIOS running. Games are now running and all of the graphical glitches are now gone from the BIOS! This is still a very early build of this emulator, and it will be a few more weeks before this really gets to playable form. It is currently running very slowly, (7.5 frames per second), but drk||Raziel has not even touched speed optimization yet. Also, many games have graphical glitches, sound is not ported yet, and most games don’t boot at all (mainly because they gripe about not having sound). However, progress is moving extremely quick on this project and it is shaping up very nicely! Below is a video of the emulator running Power Stone and Crazy Taxi.

IRC member c4pt from PS3HAX has just managed to get the Other OS installer working on his Jailbroken PS3. He is making fast progress in enabling Other OS on our Jailbroken 3.41 PS3's...something that Sony has taken away. But as for now it wont load anything. When you try to run the installer you get this error. Below is an image of what is shown.
So far, he can launch it and loaded but now needs to find a way of re-enabling the hidden menu option for the Other OS!
Ever since the release of PS Jailbreak clones such as PSGroove, there has been a steady flow of homebrew, advances bringing back features and opening up new ones. Kudos to all developers!

I got my Teensy++ Thursday and decided to port SNES9x (Super Nintendo Emulator) over to the PS3 as a little exercise to play with the Cell SDK.
It's pretty rough but it seems to work OK. It will load (uncompressed) ROMs off of /dev_usb000.
If anyone is interested, the code is linked above via GitHub with a binary attached below.
It's a new port to PS3 LV2 OS based on the vanilla SNES9x source.
To build: - Install Cell SDK >= 1.92. You know how to find it. Configure according to the install instructions (make sure to set CELL_SDK).
- Make pkg
- Load the pkg and your ROMs onto a usb drive.
- Install on PS3 using your jailbreak device of choice.
Things that suck: - Lots of SNES9x features are not supported yet. No save states, for example. Most of these are really simple to implement.
- Sound code is rubbish. It more or less works, but you'll probably hear the occasional skip.
- Performance isn't great.
- UI. Or rather, there isn't one.
- So much more.

What this payload does is makes use of the /app_home/PS3_GAME menu on the XMB. You can place an application on a USB drive under the PS3_GAME folder and run it without installing a package. However, extracting a .pkg file onto a USB drive is not sufficient to run the program. You will need to modify the EBOOT.BIN in order for it to work properly. Once homebrew files start to roll out, we may not need to install them but can simply run them from the USB drive themselves.
PSGroove
This is the PSGroove, an open-source reimplementation of the psjailbreak exploit for AT90USB and related microcontrollers.
AerialX's fork of PSGroove was made for easier prototyping of the initial payload.
It should work on: - AT90USB162
- AT90USB646
- AT90USB647
- AT90USB1286
- AT90USB1287
- ATMEGA32U4
... and maybe more.
This software is not intended to enable piracy, and such features have been disabled. This software is intended to allow the execution of unsigned third-party apps and games on the PS3.
Payloads
This fork comes with multiple payloads, which you can enable by editing port1_config_descriptor.S. All payloads have been rearranged so that they do not use hardcoded addresses anymore; you can rewrite and resize functions without worrying about offsetting others.
Default Payload
The default payload performs the basic PSGroove exploit; it allows you to install and run unsigned packages.
Apploader Payload
This payload makes use of the /app_home/PS3_GAME menu item. You may place an application on a USB drive under the PS3_GAME folder to run it without installing a package. Note that simply extracting a .pkg onto the USB drive is not quite enough for a program to run. EBOOT.BIN must be slightly modified to boot properly.
Using- To use this exploit:
- Hard power cycle your PS3 (using the switch in back, or unplug it)
- Plug the dongle into your PS3.
- Press the PS3 power button, followed quickly by the eject button.
After a few seconds, the first LED on your dongle should light up. After about 5 seconds, the second LED will light up (or the LED will just go off, if you only have one). This means the exploit worked! You can see the new "Install Package Files" menu option in the game menu.

Let the homebrew being! Open Pstore similar to Homebrew Browser on the Nintendo Wii where it does the same thing, except that it's for your PS3! With Open Pstore, you will be able to download all sorts of legal homebrew goodies as they become available directly to your PS3. They are currently looking for developers who want to contribute and add there applications to the store. The Developers claim that if you do not or cannot connect your PS3 to the internet not to worry, there is also a PC version available that can be used instead. The PC version is simply a web page where the user logs in to gain access to the downloads. The user then manually places the files onto a USB stick and transfers them over to there PS3 systems. There are currently 4 devs working on this project, they are: The_Marioga, AdriHades, DanteHades and PSmaniaco. You must first sign up to the site in order to gain access to more information.
Here is a roughly translated quote from the developers via Google Translation:From the TeamHades we are preparing you a great newness, Open PStore, homebrew that will allow you to directly unload content (legal) to your PS3, but you do not want or you cannot connect your PS3 to Internet you do not worry is another version you lower so that them from your PC. We talked about PKGs Homebrew, Tools, and dwells contents will sees added in the future, the tid also sees changed. The people in charge of the project are The_Marioga, AdriHades, DanteHades and PSmaniaco To download and test please read this thread to unload it and to test.
Guess that's it for now. More news as it becomes available.
