WaterField Designs DSi Suede Jacket
Manufacturer: WaterField Designs
Site: Buy from Waterfield Designs
Price: $11.00 (no pocket) / $15 (with pocket)
Overview : As recommended by Mario and Zelda to revolutionize your DSi. From Yoshi's Island to Castlevania, our compact and protective Nintendo DSi Cases hold it all.
The DSi Suede Jacket is a minimalist form-fitting case made from soft, washable Ultrasuede® that protects the DSi from bumps and scratches. It can also double as a screen cleaner.
Features:Quality/Usability : Having tried and reviewing the WaterField Designs Suede Jacket Cell Phone Case, I had to try out the DSi Suede Jacket.
Just like the cellphone jacket, the case was very smooth and soft to the touch. The DSi Suede Jacket leaves no room for movement but at the same time, its not too tight where its a pain to get the DSi into and out. The thin suede material is soft and also acts as a gentle screen cleaner. Don't expect the DSi Suede Jacket to protect your DSi from drops or anything. However, it will protect your DSi from your keys or loose change in your pants pocket or purse.
Like all Waterfield Designs products, it's extremely sturdy and well-built. You wont find any loose strings or anything coming apart. I have been using my WaterField Designs DS Lite Case (now available for DSi) for the past 3 years and it still looks new.
For an additional charge of $4, you can add a pocket. The pocket is sewed onto the suede and is made of neoprene/spandex type material. This pocket stretches and allows you to insert your games, memory cards, headset and spare stylus. You can even use this pocket to store your credit card, IDs, money and other items...pretty much anything you can think of that is small enough to fit.
Conclusion : Overall, the WaterField Designs DSi Suede Jacket. Unlike the suede made from animals, this suede is 100% spot and machine washable. It would be nice if WaterField Designs included a drawstring on the opening and can be used as a universal case for other cellphones, accessories or other electronics like MP3.

Tales of Monkey Island: Bringing Point-and-Click back.
Before people read this, I must confess a personal bias. I personally loved all the other Monkey Island games and the prospect of reviewing a game that was to continue such a favoured series was hugely appealing to me. I will try and keep this review unbiased but on a last note before I begin, if you haven’t played the other Monkey Island games and you enjoy this title, it’s definitely worth the purchase.
Tales of Monkey Island is the newest instalment of the immensely popular Point-and-Click adventure series from Lucas Arts. You play as Guybrush Threepwood, a “mighty pirate”, who prefers to use his head instead of his cutlass to solve any of life’s difficulties. In previous instalments of the series we have learned that he has a steady and persistent cast, for example, his wife Elaine Threepwood, a pirate far more at home with violence, the Voodoo Lady, Guybrush’s guide in this world (and the next) and the fearsome LeChuck, Guybrush’s nemesis. Tales of Monkey Island has entered a new realm of distribution however, offering the game in five chapters, all downloadable straight to your PC. In each of these chapters, Guybrush must face mind stretching puzzles and use whatever is available to him to proceed along his quest.
The gameplay is simplistic with the cursor lighting up as you roll over interactive objects and their names popping up to identify them and movement is controlled by holding the left mouse button down and dragging it in the direction you want Guybrush to walk in. This takes a little while to get used to but becomes second nature very quickly. Then you have the inventory of the items which you steal, borrow, pillage, earn and find throughout the game to aid you in your quest. The only other interaction you control is how you hold a conversation. This simplistic system is just what the game needs as, with every other game in the series, the best part about Monkey Island is the humour and wit. This is exactly the kind of game that you can use to just whittle away hours from a tough day with little input from you. The series is famed for the classic one-liners that is sprouted by the characters, with Guybrush taking center stage as one of the most likable character to be created in the digital realm. The only thing that worries me about this is that some of the jokes are derived from the previous instalments and this may take away some of the charm for newcomers to the series.
The graphics are simply beautiful with the world captured in the playful style that the story is portrayed in and they reflect the idea that the game is something to be enjoyed at your pleasure rather than mind-blowing special effects to keep your adrenaline high. The characters all have very definite styles and while the lip synching is nowhere near perfect (or even close for that matter) we can get definite bursts of identifiable emotion when they are portrayed.
The audio in the game is one of my favourite aspects. The cast have been excellent selected to compliment the physical nature and personality of their respective characters. Dominic Armato (Guybrush) in particular does an amazing job portraying the Caribbean’s most endearing pirate. The music, while sometimes over the top, does the job of getting the scene’s temperament just right. In the frequent scenes of battle between Guybrush and LeChuck, we get ominous tones which still have a playful air to them, cementing the idea that the game is still just out to make you laugh.
The chapters can be purchased separately or altogether as a pack and from my experience, it took me about 3 hours to complete a chapter, apart from chapter four which, in my mind was the trickiest. Which leads me to the one flaw I found with this game. Once again, alot of the puzzles will make sense when you sit down and really think about it but some of them are simply bizarre and unless you’re somewhat used to the tricks that LucasArts like to use in these games, I can’t see people figuring them out themselves. That said, it did feel slightly easier than the earlier games but I still would expect a newcomer to be searching for a walkthrough by chapter two.
Finishing up here, I still think the Monkey Island series are a solid gaming experience that everyone should try at least once. I know the humour might not appeal to everyone but for the life of me I can’t think who. Best thing about this game is you can buy the first chapter on it’s own if you want to try it. And I’d recommend you all do that.

XCM XFPS 4.0 Force
Manufacturer: XCM
Site: Buy from Play-Asia / Buy from ConsoleSource / Buy from GoldenShop / Buy from Amazon
Price: $90.00
Overview : Use a keyboard and mouse on your PS3 with the XFPS Force adapter. Compatible with all keyboards and mice, it is precise and efficient and will clearly give you the edge on many games, starting with FPS.
It is easy to map all PS3 controller keys/inputs to keyboard and mouse using your PC and XCM software. When used in conjunction with the soon to be released Magic Link the XPFS will allow a remote player can to co-play with you via internet connection. A PC is required to use the XFPS Force.
Features:- Connect PS/2 or USB mouse & keyboard to your PS3™
- Compatible with all mice and keyboards.
- Accuracy in aiming and fast response while playing shooting game.
- Easy to map all PS 3 controller keys to keyboard and mouse via PC by XCM software.
- When using with our new coming product (Magic link), the remote player can help you to pass the game level via the internet from his PC.
- 3 level of auto fire function.
- Must connect to PC (laptop or desktop).
Quality/Usability : Unlike XCM's previous XFPS like the XFPS Rateup, the new XFPS 4.0 Force requires a laptop or desktop if you are using a mouse and keyboard.
To connect a wired PS3 controller and enable turbo/rapid fire, plug the XFPS 4.0 Force to one of the USB ports on the console and have the PC-Controller switch on Controller. The XFPS logo will blink blue. Plug in your wired PS3 controller and the XFPS logo will stop blinking and will stay lit. When I meant "wired PS3 controller", I mean your wireless PS3 controller + USB cable. There are no actual wired PS3 controllers on the market. You can now use the turbo/rapid function. And since the PS3 controller is connected via USB cable, it also charges the battery.
Rapid Fire/Turbo switch has 3 settings, Normal (N) which is OFF, Medium (M) Speed Firing which gives 15 shots per second and High (H) Speed Firing which gives 30 shots per second.
Unlike the XCM XFPS 4.0 Speed for the Xbox 360, you do not need to connect the wired PS3 controller first before connecting mouse and keyboard. To connect a keyboard and mouse, simply plug the XFPS 4.0 Force to one of the USB ports on the console and have the switch set to PC-Controller. The XFPS logo will blink red. Plug the included USB cable into the bottom of the XCM and the other end to either you desktop or laptop USB port. Once connected, the XFPS logo will stop blinking red and will stay lit. Once connected, you can begin to configure your settings.
In order to use a keyboard and mouse as well as map/configure your settings, you'll need to download XCM's software. The latest software can be found here (whenever there is a new upgrade, you can find it here). Review was tested with version 1.50.
Once you downloaded the software, extract the file and you should see a XFPS folder or XFPS icon on desktop or within folder. Before running the software, make sure the XFPS is connected to the computer. If not, the software will give an error message stating that it "Can not find XFPS". Double click the XFPS icon and the program will display a picture of a PlayStation 3 (PS3) controller. To configure your keyboard and mouse, click on "TOOL" and "SETTINGS". Enter a name for the setting, than click "NEW" and than "MAP". From here, you can map whatever keys/buttons you want to correspond to the PS3 controller. Move the cursor to the box you want to remap and press the key you want to use. If you made a mistake, highlight the area, right click and click DELETE. Once you're done, click on "CONFIRM" in the MAP screen and click "CONFIRM" again in the SETTINGS screen. When you see the PS3 controller, you can click "FILE" and "START" or F12 to begin. Once you start, the mouse and keyboard now takes over the PlayStation 3 console. Even though the mouse and keyboard is connected to laptop or desktop, nothing will happen. To escape out of PS3 control, press F11 and you can now control computer with mouse and keyboard. This is perfect for when you want to go back to the settings and make any adjustments. Not only can you map your buttons but you can adjust the X and Y axis sensitivity as well as invert the X and Y axis.
In my testing, I've used onboard keyboard from a laptop and a cheap Dell wired USB mouse (for v1.41-1.44 software) that came with my computer and Microsoft IntelliMouse (for v1.50 software). I've also used a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse combo and all have worked fine. My wireless mouse had a higher sensitivity so I had to lower the sensitivity on the XCM XFPS application. Which is the same setup as the XCM XFPS 4.0 Speed. I did not notice any lag or any jumps in movement. I know some people have complained about dead zones with XCM XFPS adapters when moving the mouse up and down or left to right but I did not experience any of the problems. I was to move my mouse to move the crosshair over my target without a problem. I did however have to adjust the sensitivity to over 3.8-4.5 for both X and Y axis. Max is 5. This setting may be different for you and may be different for each game you play.
As mentioned above, this review was tested with v1.50. What makes 1.50 different from 1.41-1.44 is that the new v1.50 software allows you to do rapidly turn around 360° and move forward. You can also configure more buttons on a mouse if you have buttons on the side of the mouse rather than the usual left click, right click and middle wheel.
Having tested with v1.50, I preferred it. I'm not much of a PC FPS person, so using the keyboard for movement doesnt suit me. However, I love to use the mouse to aim and shoot as I have a better accuracy. With the new 1.50 software, I no longer have to use the usual WASD for movement. I can use the forward and back button on the side of my mouse for movement while still using the mouse to look around. The only time I would use the keypad is to jump, squat, stand up, switch weapons and other functions. The mouse would be my main movement, visual and firing.
Conclusion : Overall, the Team Xtender XCM XFPS 4.0 Force played great but you MUST be connected to a laptop or desktop in order to use it. Your desktop and PlayStation 3 console must be in close proximity in order for the USB cables to reach each other. If you're using a laptop, its not as bad. When you turn off the console, the logo is still lit up. So for the XFPS 4.0 to turn off completely, you'll need to unplug the USB cord from the computer or console. This was the same for XFPS 4.0 Speed for the Xbox 360.
The ability to use rapid fire on the PS3 controller with USB and XFPS 4.0 Force was great because you were also able to charge your controller at the same time. You also didnt have to plug the PS3 controller into the XFPS 4.0 Force before using your PC with mouse and keyboard. You can connect the XFPS 4.0 to the PS3 and PC immediately.
Unfortunately, if you own a Apple MAC desktop or laptop, the program will not work. Will XCM release a MAC compatible software, I hope so. If not, MAC users will be left out.
If you dont want to be chained to a laptop or desktop and just want to use a keyboard and mouse, you can take a look at XFPS Rateup.

Quality/Usability : Unlike XCM's previous XFPS like the XFPS Sniper Plus, the new XFPS 4.0 Speed requires a laptop or desktop if you are using a mouse and keyboard.
To connect a wired 360 controller and enable turbo/rapid fire, plug the XFPS 4.0 Speed to one of the USB ports on the console and have the PC-Controller switch on Controller. The XFPS logo will blink green. Plug in your wired 360 controller and the XFPS logo will stop blinking and will stay lit. You can now use the turbo/rapid function.
Rapid Fire/Turbo switch has 3 settings, Normal (N) which is OFF, Medium (M) Speed Firing which gives 15 shots per second and High (H) Speed Firing which gives 30 shots per second.
To connect a keyboard and mouse, the first half is the same as above for enabling turbo/rapid function. A wired controller MUST be connected first before the XFPS 4.0 Speed is recognized. Plug the XFPS 4.0 Speed to one of the USB ports on the console and have the PC-Controller switch on Controller. The XFPS logo will blink green. Plug in your wired 360 controller and the XFPS logo will stop blinking and stay lit. Now unplug your wired controller and the XFPS will go from green to a blinking red. On the PC-Controller switch, switch it to PC and plug the included USB cable into the bottom of the XCM and the other end to either you desktop or laptop USB port. So for the XFPS 4.0 to turn off completely, you'll need to unplug the USB cord from the computer or console.
Like the other XFPS versions, a wired 360 controller is required because the Charge Kit can't send the signal to the console. Hopefully, XCM can find a way to let us gamers use wireless controllers. I know not everyone has a wired controller because I had to go out and buy a wired controller when the XFPS first released. From what I have read on the web, newer Xbox 360 wired controllers dont work. So if you need to purchase a wired 360 controller, its best to pick up a 3rd party controller such as MadCatz, Joytech and other brands.
Unfortunately, if you own a Apple MAC desktop or laptop, the program will not work. Will XCM release a MAC compatible software, I hope so. If not, MAC users will be left out.
If you dont want to be chained to a laptop or desktop and just want to use a keyboard and mouse, you can take a look at XCM's XFPS Sniper Plus.

Nyko has what it plans to be the world's first Wiimote replacement with the Motion Plus add-on built-in. Dubbed the Wand+, the controller will retail for $39.99 and should be on shelves by March. In addition to those fancy gryoscopes, the Wand+ has a matte rubberized back and rubberized buttons that are pretty comfortable to the touch, there's a built-in camera for acting as a "regular" Bluetooth mouse, and the whole assembly is much lighter than a Wiimote / Motion Plus combo. Check out some pictures and action video via source.

Wiiwaa is a new interactive video game which uses a small stuffed animal as the game’s controller.
The game is design by Zoink Games exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. The game utilizes the wii’s motion-sensing controller implanted inside a stuffed puppet of the game’s main character. The user shakes and bounces the puppet around, as the on-screen version mimics the same actions. The puppet can be thrown, slingshot and moved in a variety of other ways all of which are acted out on screen.
This idea is ideal for children, giving them a way to connect the game to reality and also encouraging more physical activity than simply thumb movements.

There has been many modders who has taken the same path as Ben Heck and some even doing things we've never seen before. A modder has just finished up his latest creation, a WVI (wireless visual interface) for Sony's PlayStation 3 console. The purpose? To transmit signals to and from the PS3 by way of this handy handheld. A 1.2GHz wireless transmitter is used to get the controller commands to the PS3, and the same is used in reverse to get the video signals from the console to the homegrown device. The device itself utilizes a 5-inch LCD, 4,500mAh Li-ion battery (complete with a LED capacity meter), an AV input, headphone jack, USB port and a button for every last DualShock command.
SPECS:- 4500maH Li-ion battery's and recharge circuit with built in
- LED capacity meter.
- 5" widescreen LCD
- AV in port, headphones, usb mini and charge
- 1.2ghz wireless AV receiver and (obviously) ps3 remote.
Video shows no sound because he blew a TA7176AP chip on the sound receiver board, so while there is sound, its really crap quality until he gets it changed.
Also, modder will be selling the device once he has solved the sound issue.

NEXiLUX Retractable Wireless Mini Guitar (Wii/PS2)
Manufacturer: NEXiLUX
Site: Buy from Divineo France (Black) / Buy from Divineo France (White)
Price: 49,90 €
Overview : You take the stage! Guitar Hero and Rock Band games : All-In-One! Mini size with detachable neck. Easy to carry or store.
Features:- Fully compatible with PS2/PS3/Wii guitar hero and rockband
- All-New touch sensitive neck slider can be nailing intense solos when playing Guitar Hero World Tour and also be five touch sensitive fret buttons when playing other editions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band
- Retractable Guitar Neck is detachable from guitar body.
- Convenient to carry around store.
- Increased accuracy with more responsive fret buttons
- Jam effortlessly with an elongated strum bar
- Auto sleep mode helps improve battery life.
Quality/Usability : It sucks having to lug around a 1 piece guitar if you're going to a friend or family members house so NEXiLUX has released a retractable mini guitar. The base guitar strum bar, whammy bar, 5-way switch (Rock Band only), thumb stick, directional pad, SELECT/minus (-) and START/plus (+) button. The back of the base holds the Wii Remote with remote cover and a compartment for 3 AAA batteries and the bottom has a switch for to select between Wii Guitar Hero (WII GH), OFF and PS2/PS3/ Wii Rock Band (PS3/PS2/WII RB). The retractable neck has 5 touch sensitive slider buttons and 5 fret buttons. Also included is a wireless receiver for PS3 and PS2 usage.
Upon opening the package, I noticed that the Wii Remote cover had fallen out so I tried closing it and the latch broke off. It looked as if the PCB board inside was blocking the latch from clipping and it snapped off. This is probably a defect with the unit I received. I have not read or heard any other complaints about this.
All the buttons felt sturdy as well as the retractable guitar as well. Since the Wii Remote is in the back and covered, you would use the thumbstick to move the hand cursor. However, the thumbstick doesnt act as the "A" button, so you would need to reach for the back of the guitar and press the "A" button.
To play on Wii, simply connect Wii controller and turn on the Wii. To play PS2/PS3 Guitar Hero/Rock Band or Wii Rock Band, insert the receiver into one of the USB ports on the console. Turn the console ON. The receiver has four (4) BLUE game indicators located on the top and one (1) RED connection indicator located on the front of it. The red LED will illuminate indicating a proper connection has been made. If no connection has been made, the red LEDs will begin to flash indicating the receiver is searching for the Guitar controller.
Press the "Game Selection" button on the front side of the receiver to select the game you are going to play. Push the game selection button once, the indicator will be lighted on different positions. Push one by one until the proper game indicator LED is on.
Switch the guitar controller to the "PS3/PS2/WII RB" setting. The red LED will begin to flash indicating the guitar controller is searching for the receiver. Once the guitar controller and receiver have successfully synchronized, the LED on the guitar controller will turn off and the red connection indicators on the receiver will turn solid red.
The Features list is from NEXiLUX and it states that the touch sensitive buttons can be used for other editions of Guitar Hero but I was not able to get it to work with Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock for the Wii. The touch sensitive buttons is a sliding bar for Guitar Hero World Tour or as solo buttons for Rock Band. You will need to extend the neck of the guitar to expose the 5 fret buttons.
Conclusion : Overall, the NEXiLUX Retractable Wireless Mini Guitar (Wii/PS2) is a compact guitar but falls short. I may not be the best at Guitar Hero or Rock Band but comparing the scores between GH controllers that came with the game and NEXiLUX mini guitar, I did worse based on my scores. I was missing cords that I know I hit but seems to have a delayed response. The NEXiLUX comes with a drawstring pouch that holds the guitar for easy carrying and storage. Setup and connecting the guitar controller to console was fairly easy and with no problems.
